This episode only has one day because it was a long one and our guide was a real entertainer as well as knowledgeable. Apologies for the length. On our Marella excursion we visited: The House of Mary - a shrine where the Virgin Mary is said to have lived after Christ's death. Ephesus - the third of four cities, built on two sites. This was the largest and built by the Romans. Its importance faded as the bay, in which its harbour was sited, silted up. The sea is now tens of kilometres away. The Basilica of St John - author of The Book of Revelations and the man who brought Mary to Ephesus when he moved there and where he lived until his death. The Temple of Artemis/Diana - a magnificent temple in its day, now reduced to a single column.
