About our Bacon Score methodologyYouTube Video Descriptionβ
Day 5 was Bodrum and it was a fascinating place. We enjoyed our guided tour but were glad the majority of the part done on foot was downhill because it was seriously hot that day. The castle was the star of the show. It's a museum with exhibits in most of the rooms, which are set over several floors. Many are to do with artefacts recovered from the many shipwrecks around the nearby coastline but one showed the grave goods of a woman who must have been very special, judging by her gold necklet and exquisite and delicate circlet. Bodrum's traffic is very heavy and the authorities have tried to improve things by introducing one-way systems. We had to take one from the bus station, where we picked up our bus back to the ship, but after about 15 minutes I suddenly realised we were about 50 yards from where we'd set off! Day 6 was Heraklion. We had a holiday on Crete relatively recently so we opted for a tour that took us to a winery, a restaurant for some Cretan snacks, a village famous for its wall frescoes and ending in Heraklion for some free time before being taken back to the ship.
