Casablanca is a very commercial port, handling hundreds of shipping containers, and has few concessions for cruise passengers. The 'terminal' was an empty shell of a building half a mile's walk from the ship with just a couple of armed Gendarmes checking we had passports with us - a requirement for the country. The weather was absolutely foul in the morning. It was the first rain of the rainy season, we were told, but by the time we reached the coaches - another long walk in the rain - everyone was sodden. I had brought a mac but the run-off meant my trousers looked like I'd been wading though a river! Our excursion was to Rabat, about 90 minutes from Casablanca, and the administrative capital. We knew it would be a long day but did not expect to have to go from 8.30 to 15.00 without a stop for food or drink. The tour was great and we had much better weather there but the long day took the shine off. The evening's entertainment was Full Swing, touted as a celebration of the genre so I had visions of hearing tributes to Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and other singers of the era but the music had been heavily modified to turn the show into a dance spectacular. The dancing, as always, was first rate but I came away disappointed.
