We'd never been to Gibraltar so we were looking forward to our visit. We didn't see the need to go on an excursion so we walked from the ship to the outskirts of the town and caught a bus to near the bottom cable-car station and walked the last quarter-mile or so across a car park! We booked tickets on line but that didn't get us any speedier access because it was busy. There are notices everywhere, as well as a commentary in the car on the way up, warning people to beware of the 'apes', which are actually tail-less monkeys. However calm and peaceful they may appear they are wild and may bite of approached too closely but the biggest issue is with bags. They've learned that bags mean food so are always on the alert for an opportunity to snatch one. We saw this happen as we waited to come down at the top station. A lady with a large shoulder bag only just managed to hang on as a monkey tried to take it. As it was, it found some open pockets and their contents were soon flying in all directions! Gibraltar town is a pleasant place to wander around and although the enclave isn't a large area we think there would be enough to keep us occupied for several days and we plan to go back. The entertainment in the Broadway Lounge that night was Pop, a celebration of Number One pop songs and was pretty good.
