Creator's Key Takeaways

We are Global Nomads. And in 2024, we sold everything we owned to retire early and travel the world full-time.

We booked it on points. Here you go and see what you think.

We had a couple of little issues with service um and cleanliness of the room.

It was a free stay, but if I was paying, I probably would have been complaining.

Creator's Tips & Advice

Book a Mr. and Mrs. Smith property through Hyatt if you want to use points, but be aware you won't receive standard Hyatt Globalist benefits.
Consider bringing your own spirits or drinks to avoid high mini-bar costs.
For mobility issues, note that some attractions require stairs or have limited accessibility; renting a wheelchair or using available golf carts may be necessary.

About our Bacon Score methodology
YouTube Video Description

We arrived into Port Louis in Mauritius and disembarked Norwegian Dawn and headed to Lux Grand Baie Resort which is a Mr and Mrs Smith Property and was booked through Hyatt. We are Globalist with Hyatt but you receive none of the regular benefits like free breakfast, amenities, room upgrades or Executive lounges. This is specific to Mr and Mrs Smith Properties and would stop us from booking with them again for this reason. We take you around the resort and Room 1202 a Lux Ocean Junior Suite. This is the lowest category of room but has an Ocean view so we offered to pay for this "upgrade". The property is beautiful but we felt it did not live up to it's 5 star billing and this was mainly down to the staff. We went on a North Island Tour and we visited The Citadel, Caudan Waterfront Port Louis, Kannanur Mariamman Kovil1, Central Market, Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Gardens and Red Roof Church Notre-Dame Auxilliatrice de Cap Malheureux We went on a South Island Tour and we visited Trou Aux Cerf Volcano, Grand Bassin, Black River Gorges, Valley of Colors Nature Park and Seven Coloured Earth Check out our Nomadversary video: https://youtu.be/kVJnDu3DnVI Check out our top 10 tips for full time retirement travel: https://youtu.be/tJYCKzp8Q0I #mauritius #luxgrandbaie #grandbassin #valleyofcolors #hyatt #mrandmrssmith #travel #globalnomadtravel #worldtraveller #worldtravel #slowtravel #digitalnomad # digitalnomadlife #retireearly #retireearlyandtravel #financialindependenceretireearly Video Chapters 00:00 Introduction 00:11 Arriving into Mauritius on Norwegian Dawn 00:44 On our way to the Lux Grand Baie 01:25 Room 1202 Lux Ocean Junior Suite 15:20 Bijou 16:03 Beach Rouge 17:05 Hotel Montage 18:22 Mauritius North Tour 18:49 Stop 1 The Citadel 19:52 Stop 2 Caudan Waterfront Port Louis 21:00 Kannanur Mariamman Kovil 21:20 Stop 3 Central Market 22:16 Stop 4 Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Gardens 24:07 Stop 5 Red Roof Church Notre-Dame Auxilliatrice de Cap Malheureux 24:31 Grocery Shopping 24:46 Mauritius South tour 25:25 Stop 1 Trou Aux Cerf Volcano 25:50 Stop 2 Grand Bassin 27:20 Stop 3 Black River Gorges 27:48 Stop 4 Valley of Colors Nature Park 31:06 Stop 5 Seven Coloured Earth 31:55 Hyatt points redemption explained 35:33 Thanks for Watching Hi we are James and Helen and we are Global Nomads. We are a pair of British Expats that decided to retire in our early 50’s to travel the world full time. In 2004 we left Leicester in England to live in Davenport Florida and set up a Flower Shop. We brought our 2 Rottweilers along for the ride and they had a great life in the sun. Through all of the trials and tribulations that involves (Recession, COVID, Hurricanes, Inflation and everything else) in 2023 we sold that flower shop, our house and our car to become nomadic. We sold everything we own aside from some items in our storage unit mainly photos and a few keepsakes. We made the decision to be carry on only so while we do swap out our clothes dependent on the season and where we are going we travel light. In April 2024 we set off with 10 million credit card points and the money we had saved to become Global Nomads. We plan to use the credit card points to travel until they run out and will then start to spend our money on accommodation. So in the first 2 years or longer we will primarily be in Hiltons, Hyatt’s, IHG and Marriotts as we have Hotel status with all 4. We are not budget travelers and will fly first class if it is affordable or we can get it for points. We will take cruises to help us go from a to b or geoarbitrage as it is now called and because we want great deals with special experiences plan 18-24 months out. We then fill in the gaps as we get nearer to the time. Helen has an autoimmune disease which makes walking hard and accessing doctors and bloodwork were a major concern on our travels. We will document the process of appointments, prescriptions, bloodwork and keeping on top of all of that when you are thousands of miles from your primary care Doctor We love Formula 1 so will be at races if they match our dates and plans. Helen travels with a Nikon camera so wildlife photography is definitely a passion, as with all photography it comes with a lot of heavy gear that takes up valuable space and weight! Life is short, we intend to see everything we can while we are young….ish We are here for a good time, not a long time. https://www.facebook.com/GlobalNomads93/ https://www.instagram.com/globalnomads93?igsh=emg1ZzkybnJyOXZv Email: globalnomads93@gmail.com
