We are on a 31 Day Transpacific Repositioning cruise on the Carnival Luminosa. This video is the second half of our 1 Day Port in Hiroshima, Japan. If you'd like to see Part 1 of port day in Hiroshima visiting Atomic Bomb Dome, Peace Park & Hiroshima Museum, check out this video: https://youtu.be/xIM8lrbCpSg In this video we spend the second half of our day on Miyajima (ๅฎฎๅณถ), a small island just outside the city of Hiroshima. While officially named Itsukushima, the island is more commonly referred to as Miyajima, Japanese for "shrine island". This is because the island is so closely related to its key shrine, Itsukushima Shrine. It is most famous for its giant torii gate, which at high tide seems to float on the water. The sight is ranked as one of Japan's three best views. There are also wild deer on the island that have become accustomed to people. In the day the deer wander around the same sites as the tourists, and in the evening they sleep along the walking paths. Be sure to see our little encounter with one very courageous and determined deer.
