A Storm Cloud Hit Our Carnival Luminosa Balcony | Pacific Rain Squall

While sailing aboard Carnival Luminosa on our transpacific cruise from Australia to Seattle, we watched a fast-moving storm cloud and rain squall come across the Pacific Ocean right toward our balcony. The wild part was how quickly everything changed. One side of the ship still had blue sky, while the other side had dark clouds, rain pouring onto the ocean, and a horizon line that seemed to disappear right in front of us. The water even started changing color, almost like a grayish-purple as the rain moved across the surface. For a few minutes, it felt like Carnival Luminosa and the storm cloud were racing each other. The rain hit the ship broadside, the temperature changed, the back of the ship turned into a whiteout, and then just as quickly… we were sailing back toward blue skies. This isn’t a big narrated cruise guide or a scary storm-at-sea video. It’s just one of those unexpected cruise balcony moments that stopped us in our tracks while crossing the Pacific Ocean.
