Creator's Key Takeaways
It's an overnight sleeper train and uh you'll see later in the video, but we joined this train after a bit of an epic journey already.
It was one of the more comfortable train journeys that we've done, but that doesn't really say a lot because we've done some uncomfortable train journeys.
Do it. Yeah, it was a pretty good train ride.
Watch out for old Asian ladies that are going to mug you.

About our Bacon Score methodologyYouTube Video Descriptionβ
To continue our journey around South East Asia we needed to get to Chiang Mai. If you watched last weeks video you will see us make an unplanned trip to England so this was the end of our 40 hour journey from Manchester, through Dubai and into Bangkok. We booked these trains on Baolau because it is difficult to register for the Thai Railways D Ticket App but because of our change of plans we needed to change trains. Baolau were no help and told us to sign into the app and make any changes ourselves. Tickets become available 180 days ahead so the first class compartments get sold out fast. We had been watching the website daily and managed to get a couple of 2nd class seats on the day train. Then one came up in First Class and it just got messed up. There was no wifi on the plane but when we got in the car to take us to the hotel we managed to pick up a first class sleeper compartment just a few hours before. We had booked one night in the Hyatt Regency and that allowed us to store some luggage as well as shower before we boarded the train. The plane was late so that gave us 90 minutes in the hotel before we headed to Krung Thep Aphiwat (Bang Sue Station). This is a different station than the Death Railway train as that goes from the older Hua Lampong Station. We board the train and show you the cabin, the toilets, the food and how we slept. We got scammed by an old Thai lady serving food to us and 340 baht becomes 1020 baht. Our copy street case is on its last wheels as we get off the train and head over to our AirBnB to continue our journey. #bangkokthailand #thailand #thailandtravel #SpecialExpress9 #asiantrainguide #ChiangMai #travel #globalnomadtravel #worldtraveller #worldtravel #slowtravel #digitalnomad #digitalnomadlife #retireearly #retireearlyandtravel #financialindependenceretireearly #digitalnomadlifestyle Video Chapters 00:00 Introduction 00:48 Welcome to the Hyatt Regency Bangkok 02:03 Arriving for the Night Train at Krung Thep Aphiwat (Bang Sue Station) Bangkok 02:22 Welcome to Special Express No 9 05:36 Cabin Tour 07:17 Shower and Toilet Facilities 08:17 Our Food Arrives 08:44 How did we Sleep? 12:52 The Food Scam.
