🚨🚢 THE F I N A L BILL SHOCK 😱💸... As a former crew member, I saw so many guests at Guest Services completely blindsided and complaining on check-out day. Why? Because these 3 hidden costs can completely blow your vacation budget: 💵 1. The "Hidden" Gratuities As a European used to German cruise lines where tips are usually included in the base fare, I was totally shocked on my first international cruise (like Royal Caribbean or MSC)! They automatically add daily mandatory gratuities to your onboard account. That can easily add up to $250+ per person! ⚠️ My Tip: You can go to Guest Services early on to adjust these charges. I prefer to tip the hard-working crew (housekeeping, bartenders) directly in cash so I decide exactly who gets my money! 🍹 2. The Beverage Package Trap On many European lines, the base fare is slightly higher, but beer, wine, and soft drinks are already included at the buffet. On American and international lines, I was so surprised that you have to pay extra even for a simple soda at the buffet, or $15 for a glass of wine in the main dining room! ⚠️ My Tip: Do the math before you sail! If you enjoy a few cocktails, sodas, and coffees a day, pre-booking a beverage package takes away all the stress and saves you a lot of money in the end. 📱 3. The Maritime Roaming Trap We all want to stay connected with friends and family via WhatsApp. But here is the most expensive trap! Many forget to turn on Airplane Mode after sailing away. Your phone silently connects to the ship's maritime satellite network on the open sea. This can cost you hundreds of dollars in crazy roaming fees! ⚠️ My Tip: ALWAYS switch to Airplane Mode right after sailaway! If you absolutely need internet, buy a pre-paid Wi-Fi package on board – that way, you have full control over your costs. 🚨 The algorithm will probably never show you my page again! 🥺 Let's change that!
