⚔️ Let the Pool Chair Wars begin: Depending on the ship’s size and the cruise line, it’s often extremely difficult to find any free spots on the pool deck after 11 AM especially on a sea day! We all know those people who reserve the best pool chairs first thing in the morning, but then hardly show up all day?! As a former crew member, we had strict guidelines on how to handle this. And that’s exactly why, even today as a guest, I would clear the pool chair after a certain amount of time... Here is how we handled it back then, and how I’d still handle it today: ⏱️ The 30-Minute Rule: Almost every cruise line has an official policy that pool chairs can be cleared by staff after 30-60 minutes of inactivity. The crew is just trying to do their job, but believe me, the arguments I had to deal with back then... 🙄 You’d actually think people would be relaxed while on vacation.. 🛂 The Chair Police Duty: Back then, we even had a special “side duty” as crew members. We walked the deck as the „chair police“ and placed warning notices on reserved pool chairs. If nothing changed after 30 minutes, we cleared the pool chair without mercy. The algorithm will probably never show you my page again! 🥺 Let’s change that! What is your secret strategy to get a spot on sea days? And which nationalities mostly reserve the spots?
