Titanic & Olympic: How Were They Different?

YouTube Video Description↓
Olympic and Titanic; famously billed as identical or near-identical sister ships in virtually every book ever written about the subject - and even in my own videos - are sometimes really hard to tell apart. They were both based, in essence, on the same base platform using the same plans. And this wasn’t an unusual thing; shipbuilders had, for years, been building identical sister ships because it just makes good sense for cost and a seamless passenger experience. And while Titanic is very much the better-known of the three Olympic-class ships, Olympic herself was her own ship too. She was the testbed, the pioneer; all the lessons learned from her were applied to Titanic and Britannic - and then Olympic herself. Olympic and Titanic actually had quite a few differences between one another - Britannic, the third ship was completely different again. So - how were Olympic and Titanic different from one another? What changes were made to Olympic throughout her career? Today we’ll do an analysis of the base platform that made up the Olympic class - take apart all the changes that made the sisters different - and then look at the interesting design alterations made to Olympic throughout her two decades at sea.
