Boarding the Rocky Mountaineer | Rockies to the Red Rocks | Denver to Glenwood Springs | Solo Travel

Hello Travelers, On June 30, 2024 I boarded the Rocky Mountaineer luxury train for their Rockies to Red Rocks route. I checked in for the train the day before in the lobby of my hotel. They had taken over one of the tables for the coffee shop/lobby and were handling people that way. The agents were very helpful, and gave me all the information I needed. I didn’t book the hotel with the train, so I had to bring my bags down in the morning. If you book the hotel with them, they take them from your room early. Once my bags were handled, we were directed to a bus. The Rocky Mountaineer does not leave from Union Station, but leaves from another area. The bus took us to where the train was waiting. This is not your normal Amtrak style train. These are very nice, comfortable cars. With the Rocky Mountaineer in the United States, there are two classes of service. I was in what they call their Silver Leaf Plus, and we had wonderful domed glass windows to give us an excellent view of the scenery as we passed by. This train only travels by day, so this segment of the two day trip went from Denver to Glenwood Springs. They put us up in a hotel in Glenwood Springs and we board the train again in the morning. That way we don’t sleep through the scenery of the route as you do on a regular train. It was a lovely experience, so stay tuned for day 2 and the scenery yet to come!
