Carnival Panorama Day 4: Puerto Vallarta | B2B & S2S | West Coast Mexico | Not So Solo Travel

Hello Travelers, I have completed the back to back (B2B) cruise on Ruby Princess for two weeks, and now I am embarking on the side to side (S2S) portion of the trip on Carnival Panorama for my sister’s birthday cruise. This is the fourth day of the cruise, and when we visit Puerto Vallarta. We had no shore excursion booked and we could see the Walmart from our balcony and just wanted to pop over there to pick up reusable straws. If you haven’t sailed on the Panorama before, they give you these biodegradable straws that first get gummy while in your drink, and then turn quite slimy in texture. They are pretty gross, and none of the adults I spoke to liked them. Oddly, the kids did like the chocolate flavored ones. So we walked off the ship and headed to the Walmart. They did have the straws we wanted, and we got enough for the whole group. Then we went down the block a little further to the mall. We wandered around the mall and eventually made our way to the restaurant downstairs near the mall entrance. I didn’t get its name for some unknown reason, but it was not one of the chain restaurants. The food court upstairs had American chain restaurants including Chili’s and a Starbucks. We looked at the menu, and not being Spanish speakers, had a hard time finding which were not seafood—most of the items had pictures, and most were seafood. My sister does not eat seafood. One of the waiters helped us out and pointed out the steak options they had, and so I got fish and shrimp tacos, and she ended up with a huge flank steak and some mashed potatoes and cheese that were both very good. My tacos were also good. We made our way back to the ship, and in the port area, stopped to have massages for a fraction of the cost on the ship. Then we jumped in the pool to cool off. The pools are not heated and they use salt water in them, so we cooled off very quickly, and the salt water was bugging my eyes for some reason. For dinner we hit the buffet, and the food was pretty mediocre. The soft serve ice cream at the end helped make up for it though.
