On September 10, 2021 I set sail on Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of the Seas for a seven day Alaska cruise visiting Juneau, Skagway and Sitka, plus the Dawes glacier. This is the third day of the cruise, where I took a whale watching tour that was so amazing, it deserves it’s own video. The tour was called “Exclusive Whale Watching Tour” and I booked it through the cruise line. Buffy was our guide, and we became “citizen scientists” and took measurements and provided data back to the scientists who worked with this tour group. We did several things, which Buffy explains much better than I could. We pulled up a crab pot and took note of the creature in the pot. We identified and counted whales, including estimating the size of the large pod of Orcas we encountered. We also saw some humpback whales, including a mother and her calf. But the Orcas stole the show. The rest of the day’s activities will be in the next video. I had more whale footage than I could cram into one video, and it was a wonderful experience. I cannot recommend this tour enough. Please like this video and subscribe to my channel to make sure you don’t miss future content. I have more videos for this cruise, as well as future cruises booked through the rest of this year and beyond. Thanks for watching!
