We had not cruised with P&O before and I'd had second thoughts almost as soon as we booked it because the line seems to be 'Marmite': loved and loathed in equal measure. I hope this series will show whether those stereotypes were justified. In Part 1, I describe reaching Southampton on 12th June and our stay at the Holiday Inn Express Southampton West. The next day we spent several hours in Southampton, especially in the Tudor House Museum, which we loved and will definitely revisit. Boarding was a little slow, due to the numbers arriving at the same time but it wasn't long before we were on board and exploring this new ship. The first sea day, of three, passed quite well. There were a lot of activities to choose from and we certainly weren't bored. We've done two sea days before but not three. Would this prove to be too many? See Part 2 for the answer that!
