Hello Travelers, I boarded the Sky Princess on July 20, 2024 for a trip around Scandinavia. We left out of the Port of Southampton in the UK. This was day 11 of the cruise, and we are docked in Visby, Sweden. This morning we docked in Visby, Sweden, and I had a shore excursion booked for just a hop on hop off bus. That worked out well for us. There were a bunch of stops and we had no problem catching busses to where we wanted to go next. We walked around the old town inside the walls, and that was a nice stress free stroll. After a while, we ended up back on the ship fairly early in the afternoon, and I went back to my cabin for a while. After experiencing what I suspected were fever symptoms, I decided to take one of my Binax Covid home tests that I bring along whenever I travel. Sure enough, it showed positive almost immediately. So I took a couple of Excedrin to combat the fever, and alerted my friends that I had just spent the day with in town. I also called the Medical non emergency line once they opened and told them I had tested positive. This started a whole process on the ship, including having guest services call me and offer a room service menu so I could have food during my isolation in cabin. I eventually did go to Medical and see the doctor. They gave me Paxlovid (prescription), some lozenges (also prescription) and the local version of Tylenol. Then they escorted me back to my cabin (I was wearing a mask the entire time out of my cabin). So I get to spend time isolating in my cabin. Tomorrow is a sea day, so at least I won’t be missing a port stop first thing. I guess I get to rest and see how Paxlovid works—I’ve not taken it before—and hope it helps keep me from having a bad experience with Covid this time.
